It’s not nerves, it’s Essential Tremor

When someone’s hands, head or voice begin to shake, it’s easy to assume it is nerves, Parkinson’s, or even a side effect of medication. But for millions of people worldwide, the cause is something different: Essential Tremor (ET).

ET is one of the most common movement disorders, yet it remains widely misunderstood. Although it may look like a case of “nerves”, it is in fact a neurological condition that can affect children, teenagers and adults alike. Over time, ET can make everyday tasks, such as writing, eating or simply holding a cup of coffee, more difficult.

ET is a neurological condition that causes shaking, most often in the hands and arms. It can also affect the head, voice, trunk and other parts of the body. Some people experience an internal tremor, a feeling of shaking inside the chest or body that others cannot see.
